Passionate About the Written Word

I graduated from journalism school way back in June 2002 at a time when media jobs had all dried up in the aftermath of the 2001 dotcom bust. Fortunately, I found a break at the Hindu Business Line in the Mumbai bureau. I subsequently worked with other leading business newspapers like the Business Standard and HT’s livemint.com. Over the years, I interviewed the likes of Chanda Kocchar of ICICI Bank, former RBI governor, YV Reddy to NR Jagdale of Amrut Distilleries. 

More recently, I have written for the San Francisco-based, Product Marketing Alliance, Product School, and the London-based, Mind the Product

Marketing = No Chinese Wall, No Daily Deadlines



I started off in marketing and specifically in content marketing in 2012 when the whole inbound marketing concept had just taken off. I enjoyed cranking out interesting content --blog posts, ghost writing for executives, whitepapers-- and tracking the metrics. Little did I miss the Chinese wall and the daily deadlines from the newspaper world.

In My CMO's Office

As I matured in content marketing, I always craved to be closer to the product. So one day when my CMO sat me down in his sunny office in Pleasanton, California and asked me if I wanted to move to product marketing, I jumped at the opportunity. Fortunately for me, I had a great mentor to show me the ropes.

I knew I had found my calling.

I handled product marketing for incredibly successful, multi-million dollar products at enterprise SaaS product companies like CallidusCloud (now part of SAP) in the Bay Area and was most recently with enterprise operations app, Wooqer in Bangalore.

What’s this Blog All About?

During the Great Lockdown of 2020, instead of baking bread and binge watching Netflix, I decided to finally take up a project I had long put off: start a blog. 

The Product Marketing for Tech blog is aimed at product marketers and marketing executives who want to better understand product marketing. It is about my product marketing learnings in Silicon Valley and how it can be adapted to the Indian startup ecosystem. It will cover:

  • Product marketing basics 
  • Role definition and responsibilities
  • Best practices
  • Trends and much more.
